Desert Breath

Located in the Egyptian desert near the Red Sea coast, “Desert Breath” is an impressive piece of land art. The monumental spiralled installation in the sand was created by the multidisciplinary D.A.S.T. Arteam (Greek artists Danae Stratou, Alexandra Stratou & Stella Constantindies) in 1997.

Despite some erosion and the fact that the central pool has evaporated, it can still be seen on google earth (see last photo). It took them two years to build and it covers an area of about 100,000 m2. I like it when people think big!
