The Next Rembrandt

The Next Rembrandt* is a 3D printed painting made solely from data of Rembrandt’s body of work, and was created using deep learning algorithms and facial recognition techniques.” The portrait is comprised of over “148 million pixels and based on 168,263 details from Rembrandt’s paintings”. The project took a team of Rembrandt specialists, data scientists, engineers and developers over 18 months to create. The idea behind the project was to “blur the boundaries between art and technology”, I think they succeeded in that.
