Moon Patrol
Matt Cunningham likes “80’s cartoons, Atari 2600, horror movies, folklore, western and detective pulps, astronauts, gorillas, lethal rainbows, sentient prisms, skeletons leading lives independent of their owners, and undercover robots lurking just beneath the skin.” And he has great way of combining these themes into collages, a technique “inspired in part by Kid Koala‘s turntable albums, and in part by William Burroughs‘ cut-up technique.
MC: “Much of my work is informed by my love of the comic books of the late 80s and early 90s – Grant Morrison’s Doom Patrol, the technicolor adventures of Shade the Changing Man, Dave McKean’s Sandman covers, as well as the beautiful idiocy of Bob Burden’s Flaming Carrot Comics, to name a few.”
